MADRID, 5 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Villarreal CF coach, Quique Setién, analyzed this Thursday the match against Real Madrid, which will be played this Saturday at the Estadio de la Cerámica, at the same time that he highlighted the figure of Luka Modric in the whites’ game, as a player who he would have liked to resemble in his time as a footballer.

“In Madrid there are extraordinary players in all positions, I have often talked about Modric, who seems to me a dream player. The truth is that Modric is the player I would have liked to be, a footballer who sees football with great clarity and that he has a lot of quality. That no matter how old he is, he always plays at the highest level,” said the coach at a press conference.

The Spaniard also analyzed the game and praised the game of a Real Madrid with “fast, strong and intelligent” footballers. “We can expect anything from Real Madrid. When they have to defend, they do very well because they are fast, strong and intelligent footballers and, when they are close to their area, they are consistent,” he said.

“We don’t have to discover Real Madrid at this point. We know that it is a great team with great players and that they will surely commit us a lot. We can now face the game with optimism and enthusiasm because we are in a good moment of confidence and feelings This will help us against Madrid”, he said.

In this sense, the coach confessed to being clear about the game plan he wants to propose, always from possession of the ball. “We know that we must be very secure with the ball. There will be moments in which we will be able to dominate space to prevent them from coming out with fast players. This part is essential if we want to move the game forward. For our part, we must take advantage of the chances that we will have when we generate,” he said.

“What I would like is for us to see what we really propose for this game on the field. We have to be able to maintain concentration and moments because rivals like Madrid make it easier for you than others, but if we are intelligent I’m sure we’ll be able to hurt them,” he added.

Besides, Setién valued the possibilities of reaching European positions in LaLiga, although he wanted to be cautious. “Right now I don’t think we can make a real assessment of the situation for the European places. Nobody can draw definitive conclusions about what is going to happen because there is a long way to go,” he explained.

“Teams go through moments and a good streak puts you up, but a bad one gets you out of there. Winning costs a lot and in LaLiga there is a lot of equality and everyone suffers. The one with the most regularity and perhaps a point of luck, will be , but this will not be decided until we are close to finishing the competition”, he concluded.
