SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica, January 23, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — From January 23 to 26, in Germany, the varied and innovative exportable offer of national companies dedicated to the cultivation of plants, flowers and foliage is exhibited at the fair IPM Essen 2024, the most important event for generating business related to the sector.

The Costa Rican delegation that participates in this new edition of the fair is made up of the companies that are members of the Green Plant export consortium (a group of producers specialized in ornamental plants), who present their products to 1,330 exhibitors and more than 40,000 people from 46 countries. different.

“We are proud to be part, once again, of the IPM Essen fair. We are facing a new opportunity to consolidate Costa Rica as a benchmark in the plants, flowers and foliage market, in front of different strategic commercial partners from various parts of the world “commented Mario Sáenz, Export Development Manager of the Foreign Trade Promoter of Costa Rica (PROCOMER).

The country has maintained notable attendance at the IPM fair for more than a decade, and this year it returns to promote, at the EsencialCosta Rica stand, species such as: dracaenas deremensis, marginatas, massangeana, ficus, in vitro plants, aglaonema, yucca and zamioculcas.

Costa Rica stands out for being the home of 6.5% of global biodiversity and for offering the international market more than 200 varieties of plants and more than 1,200 flowers and foliage, considered exotic species.

According to the PROCOMER Commercial Intelligence Directorate, the amount exported by the plants, flowers and foliage sector as of November 2023 exceeded $140 million dollars. The main destination of these exports was the United States (55%).

“The national agricultural sector accumulates more than 135 years of experience, positioning us globally for the quality of our products and excellent production processes, which meet the highest standards such as the implementation of the Master Production Plan (MPS). in English) and the Clean Stock Program, the Healthy Propagative Material Certification Program between Costa Rica and the United States,” concluded Sáenz.

As part of the novelties that Costa Rica presents in this new edition of IPM Essen, there is a virtual tour of the plantations through an activation with a 360° virtual reality video, which allows international buyers to observe the quality and production standards of Costa Rican companies, and thus know and experience in a very experiential way – through technology – the processes that are carried out from each producing farm.
