The training points to progress in the negotiation but also focuses on toughening dismissals and maintaining the bank tax

MADRID, 23 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Sumar has been optimistic about reaching a government agreement with the PSOE within the October deadline and maintains that including a commitment to reduce working hours is one of his main demands.

This was stated at a press conference this Monday by the party’s spokesperson, Ernest Urtasun, to emphasize that they are going to insist “strongly” and “until the last minute” on this measure and also on various aspects, such as maintaining the tax. to extraordinary benefits to the bank, toughen dismissals and once and for all deploy the intern status, with a view to ending the precariousness of this group.

Other Sumar demands are to maintain free measures in the Cercanías network, largely reduce domestic flights when there is a quick alternative in three to combat the environment, repeal the ‘Gag’ Law, increase in the minimum wage, deployment of the control index of rental prices in the Housing Law and also include the regulation of tourist apartments.

During his appearance, Urtasun indicated that the talks with the PSOE are progressing and they believe that an agreement could be announced within the deadlines given, that is, at the end of the month of October.

Sources from the coalition emphasize that their desire is to be able to close an agreement as soon as possible, without giving up on exhausting the deadlines, and admit that the issue of reducing the working day is now a main obstacle, perceiving strong resistance from the PSOE to address it.

The proposal of the project led by the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, involves lowering the working day to 37.5 hours in 2024, thus equating the private and public sectors, and gradually reducing it to a threshold of 35 or 32 hours per week.

Sumar’s spokesperson, like last week, has reiterated that reducing the weekly working day is essential to achieve an “ambitious” legislature, on a social and labor level, by claiming that this measure reduced unemployment when it was applied by France and It is pertinent to the increase in productivity.

He has also stated that in the rest of Sumar’s list of requirements, some are more advanced and others less, and that it is time to continue talking with “discretion” to achieve a coalition agreement.

In addition, Urtasun has insisted that the conversations with the PSOE are limited to programmatic aspects for the legislature and that the structure of the shared Executive will be addressed later.
