SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, June 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The civil guard suspected of killing his ex-partner in Oia (Pontevedra) has committed suicide by shooting himself on a hill near the scene where he was located by the Civil Guard.

As reported by the Armed Institute to Europa Press, the alleged perpetrator of the events committed suicide around 10:15 p.m. this Saturday after more than an hour in which the agents have tried to talk with him so that he turns himself in.

The Civil Guard had been looking for the man since Saturday afternoon after locating the woman’s body in the vicinity of the O Muíño campsite, located in the Mougás parish, at the foot of the road between Baiona and A Guarda. The woman was shot several times when she was leaving work at the aforementioned campsite.

The 112 learned of an altercation at this point around 4:10 p.m. this afternoon. At that time, the emergency center mobilized the Civil Guard and the Autonomous Police to the place.

The acting mayoress of Oia, Cristina Correa, has told Europa Press that, according to what the person in charge of the campsite had transferred to her, the victim was a native of Lugo and had lived in the Pontevedra municipality for a short time “hosted” by a neighbor.

This would be the second macho crime that occurred in Galicia this 2023 after the murder of a woman in Baiona last February for which her ex-partner was arrested.

For the moment, the case has been taken over by Court number 2 of Tui, which is on duty. However, as soon as it is confirmed as a case of gender violence, the person in charge will be number 1, competent in this matter.
