The socialist deputy for Burgos, Esther Peña, will be the spokesperson for the Federal Executive Commission of the PSOE, as confirmed by socialist sources this Wednesday.

Peña will thus replace Pilar Alegría, who held the position since 2022, when the last major remodeling took place in the leadership of the PSOE, but who recently left it to make the leap to Moncloa and take charge of the Government spokesperson.

The one who will be the new socialist spokesperson was re-elected in December 2021 as general secretary of the PSOE of Burgos with 94% of the votes in the XII Provincial Congress of the PSOE and has been a deputy in Congress since 2015.

Graduated in sociology from the University of Salamanca, Esther Peña has held different responsibilities throughout her political career, such as secretary of the Social Youth Organization of Burgos, executive secretary of the PSOE of Castilla y León and secretary of Organization of the Commission Provincial Executive of the PSOE.

In addition to Peña, four ministers are going to join the Federal Executive Commission of the PSOE, so that the presence of the Government in this party body is almost doubled, pending the departures being finalized. They are the heads of Transportation and Mobility, Óscar Puente; the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz; the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Jordi Hereu and the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo.

These changes in the PSOE Executive will have to be ratified this Sunday, January 21, by the Federal Committee that meets in A Coruña. According to socialist sources, there will be no expansion of the current composition of the Executive, which will maintain the same number of members, around forty.
