MADRID, 25 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The future new Sports Law continues to take steps towards its definitive approval after receiving the approval of the Culture and Sports Commission of the Congress of Deputies on Tuesday, where the political parties approved two of the amendments that most concerned LaLiga and moved away the possibility of a possible strike.
39 of the 42 clubs -all except Athletic Club, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid- that are part of LaLiga had already expressed their fear before the withdrawal by the PP and the PSOE of some amendments that directly affected their organizational capacity and in the environment he even planned the threat of the league break.
These amendments refer to the control by the employer of their rights, which directly affected the agreement signed with the CVC venture capital fund embodied in ‘LaLiga Impulso’ and which is sued in court by Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and the need for a binding and favorable report in the event of any attempt by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to modify its statutes and regulations.
The two were approved by the deputies in a long session lasting more than four hours, but, on the other hand, the other one that worried the employers did not go ahead and that was related to the project of the European Super League, which would not have opposition in this new legislation.
Now, it is the professional clubs that must decide if they make any decision in this regard at the Extraordinary Assembly that will be held this Thursday, although it seems that, for now, the possibility of calling a strike is no longer so possible.
The Sports Law passed this procedure after obtaining 18 votes in favor, six against and 13 abstentions, all of them from the Popular Party, which expressed its discomfort at the PNV amendment allowing a Basque baseball team. His next step will be to obtain the approval of the Congress of Deputies.
This Sports Law is the “most innovative, pioneering and avant-garde in Europe”, underlined the spokesman for the PSOE in the Lower House, Juan Luis Soto. “There is no law that bets so much on inclusive sport and provides for the eradication of LGTBIphobia,” he added.
After passing through the plenary session of Congress, the Sports Law will reach the Senate, where a round of presentations and commissions will be opened before the proposal of amendments prior to its expected final approval, according to the president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD). ), José Manuel Franco, before the end of this 2022.
“The new Sports Law is moving forward, after being approved by the Congressional Committee on Culture and Sports. Thank you very much to all the parliamentary groups for the constructive and purposeful work, which will allow us to renew the current framework for a much more ambitious one. We continue”, tweeted the Council on its official Twitter account.
