The United States authorities have confirmed this Thursday that the Pentagon is limiting access to Defense Department documents that have been leaked throughout the week to guarantee national security.
The White House spokeswoman, Karine Jean-Pierre, has indicated during a press conference that the Pentagon “is already taking measures to restrict access to this information” and has recalled that it is “secret”.
“We are analyzing the repercussions for national security and I can add that, in order to reduce the impact that the publication of these documents may have on the United States and its allies, we are addressing this matter seriously,” he said before clarifying that it has been opened investigation and steps have been taken to limit the scope of these files.
However, he has refused to comment on the seriousness of the leak and has stressed that an evaluation is being carried out in this regard. “As I said, the Department of Justice is now evaluating the situation, so I will not get ahead of myself,” she said.
