VALENCIA, 16 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The PSOE is already in contact with the PP to move forward with the reform of the Law on the Comprehensive Guarantee of Sexual Freedom –known as the “only yes is yes” law– and as of this week they will negotiate amendments with the main party of the opposition.

This has been pointed out by socialist sources to Europa Press, who consider that the technical issues raised by the ‘popular’ to give their support to the norm are well raised. In any case, the PSOE does not contemplate talking about a possible increase in penalties.

The reform of the ‘only yes is yes’ law has generated a division between the coalition partners, PSOE and Unidas Podemos, who have not agreed to modify the rule. The Socialists are in favor of correcting the law, which has already generated 978 reductions in sentences for those convicted of sexual crimes and 104 releases.

As Unidas Podemos has been reluctant to change, the PSOE alone presented a bill to carry it out. In its first process in Congress, taking it into consideration, the purples voted against it, although the PSOE carried it out with the support of the PP.

This Monday the Congress begins the last phase of the processing of the reform of the law with the implementation of the presentation, where the parliamentary groups must negotiate the amendments presented to the text promoted by the PSOE.

The Socialists have already indicated that they would not negotiate the amendments presented by Unidas Podemos together with ERC and Bildu because, in their opinion, they did not respond to the problem of the norm.

This same Sunday, the President of the Government has apologized to the victims of the law of only yes is yes and has assured that a solution will be put in place for its unwanted effects. “If you have to apologize to the victims, I apologize to the victims for these unwanted effects,” he said in an interview in El Correo, collected by Europa Press.

Likewise, it has indicated that the reform will be approved “with the support of the groups that are willing to respect the heart of the law but to resolve these undesired effects from a legal and technical point of view” and, if it can be counted “with the support of the right for the good of a feminist cause, welcome.”

On the other hand, sources of the ‘popular’ in the Lower House have also indicated to Europa Press that in recent days the two parties have maintained contact on this issue, although without finalizing anything concrete. But these conversations, according to the same sources have indicated, lead the main opposition party to see possible a reform with the votes of PP and PSOE.
