MADRID, 12 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Kings have used a family photo taken on October 31, coinciding with the swearing in of the Constitution by Princess Leonor to illustrate their traditional Christmas greeting, thus highlighting the importance that that day has had for the Royal Family.

In it, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia appear on both sides flanking their two daughters, the monarch holding onto Infanta Sofía and the queen holding onto the Princess of Asturias, all of them smiling.

As can be seen in the image, it was taken inside the Royal Palace where a ceremony took place after the solemn act of swearing in the Constitution before the Cortes in the Congress of Deputies and the heir to the throne received the necklace of the Order of Charles III.

The photograph is accompanied by the traditional “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year”, also in English, and already in handwriting the addition “we wish it so with all our affection.” As on other occasions, the congratulations are signed by the Kings and their two daughters, as “Princess of Asturias” and “Infant of Spain”.

Zarzuela has also made public, as in previous years, the congratulations of the emeritus Kings. In his case, the image is Murillo’s painting ‘Adoration of the Shepherds’ from the Prado Museum while the printed message is limited to “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” to which a 2024 has been added by hand, followed by the signature of Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía.
