MADRID, 18 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have condemned the attack against the European Union ambassador in Sudan, Aidan O’Hara, assuring that they have not taken part in it, and denouncing that there are members of the Sudanese Army and related militias who are committing crimes wearing RSF uniforms.

“There are no RSF in charge of arresting or searching the houses of citizens,” they have assured through a statement on their Twitter account, adding that they have observed how some members of the Army used their uniforms and “infiltrated to facilitate their crossing by the bridges that (the RSF) control”.

Thus, they have accused these alleged infiltrators of “many brutal crimes against innocent citizens, including the unjustified attack on the headquarters of diplomatic missions”, adding that with their actions “they violate international standards and Humanitarian Law with regard to the treatment of the prisoners”.

The High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell, had confirmed and condemned the attack on the ambassador, which took place in the midst of fighting between the Army and the RSF paramilitaries that broke out last Saturday.

According to the latest United Nations data, detailed on Monday by the special representative for Sudan of the UN Secretary General, Volker Perthes, the conflict has left at least 185 dead and 1,800 injured since Saturday.

Fighting has broken out in Khartoum on most of the bridges across the Nile River, at the International Airport and around the main RSF and military bases. The fighting is also especially intense in the Darfur region.
