MADRID, 6 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The majority of the board of prosecutors of the criminal section of the Supreme Court (TS) has decided to overturn the report prepared by his colleague Álvaro Redondo, who opposed the TS investigating former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont for terrorism for his alleged involvement in the riots unleashed by Tsunami Democràtic in the fall of 2019 as a sign of protest against the ‘procès’ ruling.

After a meeting that began around 10:00 and lasted several hours, according to tax sources, the majority’s opinion prevailed, causing a change in the Prosecutor’s Office’s position, since Redondo proposed not charging Puigdemont, while at the same time ruled out possible terrorist crimes.

In this way, the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office aligns itself with the investigating judge of ‘Democratic Tsunami’, Manuel García Castellón, who in a reasoned presentation of more than 100 pages asked the high court to investigate Puigdemont for terrorism, the deputy of the Parliament Rubén Wagensberg –both full– and to the general secretary of ERC, Marta Rovira, among others.

Now, this change in criteria will have to be reflected in a new report that will clash with the position established by the prosecutor of the case in the National Court, Miguel Ángel Carballo.

According to the tax sources consulted by Europa Press, once the new report is issued, the lieutenant prosecutor of the TS, María Ángeles Sánchez-Conde, could intervene to unify criteria, even going so far as to prepare the final report.

When the final report of the Prosecutor’s Office is issued, it will be submitted to the Criminal Chamber of the high court, where Judge Juan Ramón Berdugo will be in charge of studying the matter and then argue before the other judges whether or not to proceed with the investigation. reasoned exposition signed by García Castellón.
