MADRID, 20 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Justice, Pilar Llop, has ruled out this Thursday as a PSOE candidate for Mayor of Madrid in the next municipal elections in May 2023: “That scenario, I say it bluntly, is not going to happen.”
This has been pronounced within the framework of an informative breakfast organized by the New Economy Forum, in which it has been ruled out as the option of the party led by Pedro Sánchez to dispute the ‘popular’ José Luis Martínez Almeida.
Socialist sources have indicated to Europa Press that the PSOE will reveal the identity of its candidate within two weeks. As they have specified, the chosen person will leave a relevant position to fight for the Madrid City Council and they have underlined his commitment “when leaving the place where he is” to fight for the capital’s baton.
In addition, they have indicated that regardless of the result he obtains, he will remain in the City Council to forge a long-term project, beyond next year’s elections. The decision will be communicated “approximately” in two weeks, they have reiterated.
