BURGOS, 16 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, stated in Burgos that “Spain should feel very proud of its Armed Forces” for the work carried out inside and outside national borders.
In this sense, he recognized the work carried out this summer by the UME in the fight against forest fires, as well as those divisions deployed in countries such as Lebanon, Mali or Iraq.
And it has also valued the work that, in collaboration with other countries, is being carried out in Afghanistan, where a “very difficult situation” is being experienced for women and girls.
In this regard, he has made it clear that none of the operations being carried out with this country depends exclusively on Spain, while at the same time he has highlighted the “great risk” assumed in each of them.
Although several special operations have been carried out with this country in recent times, the last one removing 300 people from Afghanistan, the Defense Minister has insisted that “prudence and a sense of responsibility” prevail in all of them.
Robles has made these statements in Burgos, during a visit to the San Marcial Division based in the city. As indicated, Burgos is one of the most important cities in Spain in the operation of the Armed Forces and has an “essential and fundamental” role for the Army, so “there is no plan to take anything away” from the city , “everything is under study” within units “in constant evolution” in search of modernization.
