VALENCIA, 26 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The emeritus professor of the University of Valencia Eulogio Oset Báguena, member of the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC, UV-CSIC), has received the Medal of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics (RSEF) in recognition of merit in the teaching of Physics and to his exceptional scientific career in the field of Theoretical Physics.
As stated in the jury’s decision, Oset Báguena has been awarded the Medal of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics for his “exceptional scientific career in the field of theoretical physics, which has made him a reference in physics.” nuclear,” the academic institution reports in a statement.
In particular, the court has highlighted “his studies of the hadronic spectrum and electroweak responses”, assessing the impact of these works at an international level. The researcher’s leadership capacity has also been one of the highlights in the jury’s ruling, specifically, what led him to create a school of nuclear and hadron physics from which researchers have emerged who currently occupy positions of responsibility in numerous national and international institutions.
Finally, the ruling also places special interest in the close and permanent collaborations of Eulogio Oset Bágunea with scientific groups from across the international scene.
The jury of this new edition – in the categories of Medal of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics, Young Researcher Award in Theoretical Physics and Young Researcher Award in Experimental Physics – has been chaired by Miguel Á. F. Sanjuán, general editor of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics and academic of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences; and has had as members Rosa María Benito Zafrilla, professor of Applied Physics and head of the Complex Systems Group at the Polytechnic University of Madrid; Eugenio Coronado Miralles, professor of Inorganic Chemistry and director of the Institute of Molecular Science at the University of Valencia; and Alejandro González Tudela, scientific researcher in the Quantum Information and Fundamentals of Quantum Theory Research Group (QUINFOG) of the Institute of Fundamental Physics (CSIC).
Also participating in the evaluation commission were Jacobo Santamaría Sánchez-Barriga, professor of Physics in the Physics of Complex Materials Group (GFMC), Department of Materials Physics at the Complutense University of Madrid; Antonio de Ugarte Postigo, research director of the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur, National Center for Scientific Research of France.
The Royal Spanish Society of Physics (RSEF) and the BBVA Foundation recognize creativity, effort and achievement in the field of physics to serve as a stimulus to professionals who carry out their work both in research – with special attention to young people – as in the areas of secondary and university education, innovation, technology and dissemination. The BBVA Foundation has collaborated with these awards since 2008, within the framework of its activity to promote scientific research and its dissemination to society.
