“We are analyzing it,” sources from the international agency have assured.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has accepted an offer from Ukraine for agency experts to rule out on the ground Russian suspicions about the possible use of a dirty bomb, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy spoke on Monday by phone with the director of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, to “officially” invite him to send a mission “urgently”. kyiv wants this team to verify that there is no trace of the “misleading” accusations from Moscow.
Grossi has accepted, according to Kuleba. “Unlike Russia, Ukraine has always been and will continue to be transparent. We have nothing to hide,” the minister said on his Twitter account.
The agency, for its part, has said it is aware of the cross-statements between the two countries and has confirmed an invitation from Kuleba to address the issue, although without going any further. “We are analyzing it,” said sources consulted by Europa Press, who nevertheless hope that “soon” there may be some kind of “announcement.”
Kuleba has intensified his international contacts in recent hours to respond to Moscow’s “lies” and test the possible preparation of false flag operations by Russian forces. Thus, he has also spoken with the French Foreign Minister, Catherine Colonna, and with the High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell.
In a message on social networks after Kuleba’s call, the head of European diplomacy described Russia’s accusations as “false allegations” and welcomed kyiv’s decision to go to the IAEA.
“The support of the European Union to Ukraine does not cease, even in the fight against disinformation,” said the High Representative.
