MADRID, 22 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Naser Kanaani, has repudiated this Saturday the latest sanctions of the European Union, with the support of the United Kingdom, for the use of drones by the Islamic Republic in Russian attacks during the war in Ukraine; an accusation that Kanaani has bluntly denied.

“This is a false and unfounded pretext,” lamented the spokesman at a press conference collected by the Tasnim agency, in which he insisted that Iran defends the territorial integrity of Ukraine against the Russian invasion.

We have always insisted that all member states of the United Nations must fully respect the goals and principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and international law, including the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries,” he declared.

The sanctions were announced by the Czech EU presidency and target three individuals, including the chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, and an entity responsible for drone deliveries, Shahed Aviation Industries, linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard.

On the contrary, the spokesman has reiterated his condemnation against the “irresponsible, destructive and illegal measures” to create “a poisonous political atmosphere” against the Islamic Republic.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran sees the ongoing provocative approaches taken by the European Union and the United Kingdom as part of a determined political scenario that goes against its hollow and hypocritical claims to contribute to sustainable peace and stability in the world.” , has added.
