MADRID, 1 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The former president of Russia and current vice president of the Security Council, Dimitri Medvedev, has accused the Western powers of pushing the world towards a “global war” that can only be avoided with the Russian victory in the conflict in Ukraine.
“Let’s call things by their name. Western countries are pushing the world into a global war, and only Russia’s complete and final victory is a guarantee against global conflict,” Medvedev said on his Telegram channel.
The former Russian president has pointed out that the argument defended by the West that “Russia cannot be allowed to win the war” entails supporting Ukraine’s theories about the total recovery of its territories, which would mean “threatening the existence” of Russia.
“The kyiv regime has mentioned Ukraine’s goal in the war: the return of all the territories that previously belonged to them (…) This is a threat to the existence of our state and the collapse of today’s Russia,” he said. saying.
According to Medvedev, these threats to Russia would be a justification to be able to apply article 19 of the Fundamentals of State Policy of the Russian Federation, which delves into Russian nuclear capabilities as a deterrent against threats to its sovereignty.
