The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has supervised this Wednesday some exercises of the nuclear deterrence forces in which a “massive” attack has been rehearsed that, according to the Government, would take place in response to a hypothetical external aggression.
The maneuvers, which have involved movements by land, sea and air, have served to verify the level of preparation of forces that Putin has threatened to mobilize in the framework of the war launched in Ukraine, according to a Kremlin statement. All missiles launched, ballistic and cruise, have successfully hit their targets.
During a meeting of the Russian security leadership, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu informed Putin of these preparations for a “massive” attack, with which Russia would respond to “an enemy nuclear attack.”
The president took advantage of the meeting to order the reinforcement of security in Russia’s energy infrastructure, as well as in key points for transport, in response to the attack on the Crimean bridge and an alleged sabotage plan at the Kursk nuclear power plant .
