MADRID, 8 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Russian government has stressed this Tuesday that “it does not set preconditions” for the start of talks with Ukraine to achieve a peace agreement and has stressed that the only thing necessary is for kyiv to “show good will.”
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko stressed that Moscow “does not set any preconditions, except for the main one, which is that Ukraine show goodwill,” according to the Russian news agency Interfax.
“Ukraine has adopted a law that prohibits peace talks with Russia. It is its choice. We have always declared our readiness for these negotiations, which were interrupted by something that was not our fault,” he stressed.
Rudenko’s words have come a day after the Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, indicated that Moscow is open to negotiations and stressed that kyiv’s actions prevent “an opportunity” to address these contacts.
The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, promulgated a decree in early October that contemplates, among other issues, that it is “impossible” to open a process of negotiations with Russia to end the armed conflict triggered on February 24 by the invasion order given by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
