MADRID, 15 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, has refused this Tuesday to apologize for the possible damage caused by the Government of his predecessor in office, Liz Truss, to the British economy and has stressed that the consequences have already been reversed .

Thus, he explained that the impact of the so-called ‘mini-budget’ promoted by Truss to deal with the growing economic crisis caused by the increase in food and gas prices “has already been mitigated.”

In this sense, it has confirmed that the damage “has been repaired correctly”, according to information from the BBC television network. “I think it is very important that people understand what has happened since I have become prime minister. During the last few weeks we have been able to observe many economic factors … and we have achieved an improvement,” he said.

“Now we face the same challenges as most countries,” he said in relation to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the current geopolitical context.

His argument is similar to that given by the former Finance Minister Kwasi Kwarteng, who has assured that he even warned Truss that his economic and fiscal plan, strongly criticized and from which he had to retract, would end up removing her from Downing Street.
