MADRID, 18 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The management of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, only receives the support of 10 percent of the British, according to a poll that credits the collapse in the popularity of the head of government after her latest political turns in fiscal matters.

Truss was already at levels lower than those of his predecessor, Boris Johnson, last week, and after the resignation of the Finance Minister and the reversal of the ‘mini budget’ announced in September, it has fallen another five points in just a few days.

Some 80 percent of those surveyed already have an unfavorable opinion of the prime minister, according to a YouGov poll based on 1,724 interviews. This critical majority extends even among supporters of the Conservative Party, where only 31 percent support it.

Truss is by far the UK’s lowest-rated British political leader. The best note is received by the head of the opposition, Labor Keir Starmer, with 41 percent, while Rishi Sunak (34 percent) and even the reviled Johnson (32 percent) stand out among the ‘Tories’.

On the other hand, 17 percent have a good opinion of the new finance minister, Jeremy Hunt, appointed last Friday to replace Kwasi Kwarteng. Hunt was in charge of announcing this week the almost total dismantling of the fiscal plan launched by his predecessor.

Despite the growing tensions, Truss said on Monday that he wants to lead the ‘Tories’ until the next elections and acknowledged “errors” in the economic management of recent weeks.
