The Vanuatu archipelago, in the South Pacific, has been the subject of a provisional tsunami warning this Sunday, already withdrawn, after the declaration of a preliminary magnitude 7.0 earthquake near its coasts, as announced by the Vanuatu Warning Center. Pacific Tsunamis (PTWC).

According to preliminary information from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was recorded about 23 kilometers northwest of Port Olry with a hypocenter at a depth of 27.7 kilometers.

After the earthquake, two other aftershocks of magnitude 4.8 and 4.0 have been registered, according to a later evaluation by the USGS.

At the moment there is no record of victims or material damage.
