The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday rejected the proposal presented by Russia to promote a commission to investigate the alleged US biolaboratories on Ukrainian territory.

Russia’s request has received only two votes in favor – its own and China’s – while the United Kingdom, the United States and France have opposed it. Another nine delegations have abstained, according to the Russian agency TASS.

The document proposed a commission made up of all its members in order to “investigate the claims presented in the Russian complaint against the United States and Ukraine on the fulfillment of obligations under the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological Weapons” .

As denounced by the deputy representative of the Russian delegation to the UN Security Council, Dimitri Polianski, the Western powers have banded together to sabotage the investigation into these alleged US activities.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Russian government has repeatedly denounced the existence of US “biomilitary” laboratories on Ukrainian territory, allegedly working with “biological agents potentially useful as biological weapons.”

The United States did not take long to respond and at the beginning of March it already branded Russia’s accusations as “false information”. “This is absurd. This is the type of disinformation operation that we have seen repeatedly by the Russians over the years in Ukraine and in other countries,” said Jen Psaki, then serving as a White House spokeswoman.
