Ukraine and Russia have confirmed this Sunday a new exchange of a hundred prisoners of war, fifty for each side, who are already safe in the territories under the control of the respective forces in conflict.

The Ukrainian Prisoner Exchange Coordination Headquarters has confirmed the return of 33 officers and 17 privates and sergeants in what is the 36th exchange since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine last February, according to a statement collected by the Bykvu portal.

Russia, according to the organization’s figures, has handed over a total of 1,646 Ukrainian prisoners of war, both military and civilian.

The Russian Ministry of Defense, for its part, has confirmed the return of another fifty soldiers “in danger of death in captivity,” reports the Russian agency TASS.

“Those released will be delivered to Moscow by planes of the military transport aviation of the Aerospace Forces for their treatment and rehabilitation in departmental medical institutions, and they receive the necessary medical and psychological assistance,” he said.
