Ukrainian authorities have called on the G20 to withdraw its invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the upcoming summit and expel the country for attacks on Ukraine’s civilian population and infrastructure.
“Putin publicly acknowledged ordering missile strikes against Ukrainian civilians and energy infrastructure. With blood on his hands, he should not be allowed to sit at the table with world leaders,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said. .
Thus, the Ukrainian representative has launched a publication on his profile on the social network Twitter where he has asked to “revoke” the invitation to the Russian president of a summit to which, however, Moscow has not confirmed that Putin will attend despite being guest.
The Kremlin’s spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, has repeatedly spoken about it, assuring that the summit, scheduled for November in Indonesia, will have Russian representation, although the “format” of intervention has not yet been defined.
The interest of this meeting, which will be held on November 15 and 16, lies mainly in the possible face-to-face meeting between Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelensky, who assured that kyiv’s participation will depend on the situation that his country.
