MADRID, 27 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Chinese President Xi Jinping has stated that his country is willing to work with Washington to find mutual interests and achieve benefits for both administrations, Chinese state television reported Thursday.

“China is willing to work with the US to respect each other, peacefully coexist and achieve win-win cooperation, and find the right way for China and the US to get along in the new era, which will not only benefit both countries, but so does the world,” Xi said in a letter of thanks to the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations for its “active promotion” of the development of bilateral relations.

In this sense, the Chinese president has indicated that both countries, “as major powers”, must “strengthen communication and cooperation” to improve the increase of “world stability and help promote world peace”.

Xi Jinping hopes that the National Committee for Relations between the United States and China will continue to play an active role so that relations between the two nations “return to the path of healthy and stable development,” the letter continues.

The comments — which come ahead of a possible meeting with US President Joe Biden at the G20 summit — took on a more conciliatory tone after a Communist Party congress in which Xi secured a rule-breaking third term and promised that China would stand firm in a more hostile world, reports the Bloomberg agency.
