Barcelona, ??April 19, 2024.- Barcelona residents Eric Zueras, Gael Parot and Biel Salazar, 4th year ESO students at IES Corbera de Llobregat in Barcelona, ??have managed to win the title of ‘best virtual entrepreneurs in Spain’ after winning to the 343 young people from 84 educational centers throughout Spain who have participated in Madrid in the thirteenth national final of Young Business Talents, the educational business simulation competition, organized by ABANCA, ESIC University, Herbalife and Praxis MMT, which seeks young people with business talent.
The winning team has proven to have the best management skills and optimal business vision by having to run their own virtual company with the use of an advanced business management simulator that has confronted them with real situations that occur within a company. In this way, they have managed to position their company focused on personal care, selling creams and sunscreens, with maximum benefits compared to the rest of the participating teams.
The runners-up were three young people from the 2nd year of Baccalaureate from IES San Tomé de Freixeiro, in Vigo (Pontevedra); and in third place were three pre-university students from the 1st year of Baccalaureate from the IES Río Cabe, from Monforte de Lemos (Lugo). For its part, in fourth place, another team from the IES San Tomé de Freixeiro, from Vigo (Pontevedra), formed by three pre-university students from the 2nd year of Baccalaureate, has qualified; and fifth place went to four 2nd year Baccalaureate students from IES Alto Guadiana, in Tomelloso (Ciudad Real).
The five winning teams have distributed more than 10,000 euros in prizes among students and teachers, as well as accrediting diplomas that will help them improve their professional future. The celebration of the XIII national final of Young Business Talents, which takes place in an exciting Business Game format, in the purest American style, has brought together a total of 343 young people from 84 educational centers from all over Spain in La Nave from Madrid, all of them students in the 4th year of ESO, Baccalaureate and the intermediate and higher level training cycles.
“We are surely facing the future CEOs who will lead the companies of our country. Both the winners and the more than 300 participants who have reached this national final after months of work, have demonstrated great qualities as entrepreneurs by carrying out brilliant business strategies with very good results. With this educational program we ensure that young people benefit from new learning tools that allow them to put into practice the theory learned in class in a playful way, while also helping them with guidance for their academic and professional future,” explains Mario. Martínez, director of Young Business Talents.
Young people have become true managers and have had to make the best decisions in the areas of marketing, sales, operations, production, human resources and finances, to position their virtual company as a leader and not fall into bankruptcy. To do this, they have had to define their business strategy taking into account the competition, demonstrate leadership skills, teamwork, good communication between them and great organizational skills.
With the celebration of this day, the final touch is put on a complete educational program for young people that incorporates experiential learning, in which a total of 11,441 pre-university students from 426 educational centers throughout Spain have participated throughout this course. Since it began in November and until they obtained a place in the national final, the students have been passing different phases online with the help of their teachers from the classrooms, and thus they have been able to live first-hand a laboratory experience without risks, to understand business management from within.
In this way, this business simulator allows them to practice making all types of decisions within a company: they analyze, plan, execute and control. So that they could participate, the educational centers have been given free of charge a sophisticated business simulator, developed by Praxis MMT and valued at more than 3,000 euros each, like those used in business schools, universities and large companies, so that they put into practice the theoretical knowledge of economics and business administration seen in classes
