The president of Iran argues that the attacks are part of “legitimate defense” and criticizes international inaction towards Israel
MADRID, 14 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, stated this Sunday that Tehran “has taught the Zionist enemy a lesson” with its drone and missile attacks and has warned that “any new adventure will be met with an even harsher response,” before to limit the Iranian response to a “defensive measure” after the recent bombing of its Consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Raisi noted in a statement published on his website that the “brave” members of the Revolutionary Guard “have written a new page in the history of Iran” and “have taught a lesson to the Zionist enemy.” “The punishment of the aggressor, a sincere promise of the wise and powerful leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei), has materialized,” she stressed.
“In a decisive military action, the proud forces of Iran have attacked military objectives of the Zionist occupation regime in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. This defensive measure, framed in Iran’s inherent right to self-defense, was a response to the aggressive actions of the Zionist regime against the objectives and interests of Iran,” he argued.
Thus, he specifically cited the attack carried out against the Iranian Consulate in Damascus, which resulted in the death of seven members of the Revolutionary Guard, while stating that this “combined operation” is “a message of authority and deterrence.” of the Muslim community and of fear and humiliation for the enemies of humanity.
The Iranian president has maintained that “during the last six months, and especially during the last ten days, Iran has used all regional and international tools to draw the attention of the international community to the deadly dangers derived from the inaction of the Security Council of the United Nations in the face of the continued violations of the Zionist regime.
“Unfortunately, the (UN) Security Council, under the influence of the United States and other allies of the Zionist regime, has not been able to carry out its tasks,” he argued, while reiterating that Iran has acted “in defense of the integrity, sovereignty and national interests of the Islamic Republic” and “to punish the aggressor and establish stability in the region.”
In this way, he explained that Iran “considers peace and stability in the region as something necessary for its national security” and said that “it spares no efforts to restore it.” “It is totally clear to any fair observer that the actions of the Zionist regime are an occupying, terrorist and racist entity that does not consider itself bound by any legal or moral duty or norm,” he criticized.
Raisi has stated that Israel has carried out “a genocidal campaign” against the Palestinians for more than six months with the “complicit support” of the United States and other Western countries in its offensive against the Gaza Strip, launched in response to the attacks. executed on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which “poses an immediate and continuing threat to regional peace and security.”
“The evils of this occupying, expansionist and supremacist regime have deprived the people of our region of peace and security for decades,” he stressed, while emphasizing that “if the Zionist regime or those who support it show behavior reckless, they will receive a much more decisive and violent response.
“We advise those who support the occupying regime to appreciate this responsible and proportionate action by the Islamic Republic and to stop blindly supporting the Zionist aggressor regime, as this has been one of the main causes of this regime intensifying its violations of the law and their mockery of international laws and standards,” he concluded.
