The Barcelona gynecologist Santiago Dexeus i Trias de Bes, a pioneer in assisted reproduction techniques in Spain, died this Friday at the age of 88, reported the Women’s gynecological clinic, which he founded together with Damià Dexeus.
Dexeus was born on July 22, 1935, graduated from the University of Barcelona, ??was director of the Department of Oncology at the Institut de la Materinat de Barcelona and in 1973 founded the Institut Universitari Dexeus with his brother Josep Maria Dexeus, of which he was director until 2004.
During his career he has received various distinctions, including the Gold Medal for merit to the work of the Government, the Creu de Sant Jordi and the President Macià Medal.
