MADRID, 12 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The management of the telecommunications operator Avatel has expressed this Friday to the unions its intention to present an Employment Regulation File (ERE), not yet quantified, at the beginning of next May.
As confirmed to Europa Press by union sources, the announcement is limited for now to the company’s intention to establish the negotiating table to undertake this ERE, although there is still no defined date for its constitution.
UGT, the main union in the company, has stated that it will work to ensure that there are no layoffs in this company that employs around 2,500 people.
In recent months, after the approval of the merger between Orange and MasMóvil by the European Commission, rumors have emerged regarding a possible purchase of this telecom company by Telefónica, an operation that would be around 1,000 million euros.
Avatel is currently a wholesale client of Telefónica and its consolidated revenues in 2022 (latest information available) reached 265 million euros, with a gross operating profit (Ebitda) of 91 million euros.
