VALENCIA, 11 Apr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The architect Vicente Castillo and the engineer Sergio Ortiz, both from Alicante, have been selected by the Japanese multinational NTT for their project that aims to obtain the highest energy efficiency performance from a building through Artificial Intelligence (AI).
This system will be able to make decisions about when to lower or raise a blind, maintain the temperature efficiently through the regulation of thermostats or manage automatic ventilation systems, among other actions that will automatically enhance good energy use.
The people of Alicante participated in a project on energy efficiency with the Digital Intelligence Center of the province of Alicante (CENID) and applied the data obtained in their initiative. Both contributed their knowledge over the last three years to fight climate change through the development of this software platform.
Under the name ‘RL EnergyPlus’, its project involves enhancing and obtaining the highest energy efficiency performance from a building through AI. It was selected by the multinational over more than 150 projects presented by teams from around the world, reports CENID.
Specifically, it involves the development of a computer system capable of obtaining the highest energy efficiency performance from a building through AI as the main work tool, putting into operation the set of cognitive and intellectual capabilities expressed by computer systems imitating human intelligence.
The University of Alicante (UA) has collaborated in this project by allowing access to two real cases of buildings developed by CENID: the improvement of the energy efficiency of the Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium (ADDA), by increasing public comfort controlling the temperature points of several locations, and the improvement of the church of San Juan in a hospital in Valencia, where the software influences regulating the CCO2 emitted internally, calibrating the temperature and humidity to avoid overheating.
NTT is a Japanese communications company specialized in systems integration that aims to develop innovative projects that contribute to improving people’s lives. That is why it held a global competition with sustainability as a central point.
