The number of new commercial companies rose 9.9% last February compared to the same month in 2022, reaching a total of 10,154 companies, according to data released this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
With the rebound in February, the creation of companies chains two consecutive months of promotions, although that of February has been more moderate than that of January, when this indicator shot up 15.6%.
For the constitution of the 10,154 companies created last February, just over 344.7 million euros were subscribed, which is 51.4% less than in the same month of 2022, while the average capital subscribed, which stood at 33,949 euros, decreased by 55.8% year-on-year.
While the creation of companies increased, the dissolution of companies also grew in February, 11.2% compared to the same month in 2022, to a total of 2,704, its highest figure in this month since 1995, when the series of this statistic. In this way, every day of the month of February 97 companies closed their doors in Spain.
