MADRID, 9 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The PP has requested the appearance in Congress of the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, and the president of Renfe, Raül Blanco, to report the “scandalous” delays in the thirty very high-speed Avril trains, produced by Talgo , which should have come into operation in the summer of 2022.
On the one hand, the PP requests Puente’s appearance at the Transportation Commission. As stated in the request for an appearance, collected by Europa Press, the Popular Group wants the minister to report on the delays and unfulfilled announcements in this regard.
He also wants to clarify the responsibilities of his department and Renfe in the “notorious contractual breach” by Talgo. “It is causing great damage to the provision of services in the AVE-Long Distance area,” denounces the PP. Regarding these responsibilities, he also wants to know the version of the president of Renfe.
The PP’s claim coincides with the Public Acquisition Offer (OPA) that the Hungarian group Magyar Vagon has launched for 100% of Talgo for 619 million, which could affect the delivery times of its orders.
The Government has assured that it will be “vigilant” over the Public Acquisition Offer (OPA) launched by a Hungarian company to buy 100% of Talgo for 619 million euros, in order to guarantee the future stability of the company.
Sources from the Executive have expressed to Europa Press this first reaction to the formalization of the offer, thus lowering the tone expressed privately last Wednesday by the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, who assured that the Government will do “everything possible” to stop this operation, given the suspicion that Russian investors could be behind the Hungarian group.
