PALMA, 24 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Homicide Group and Scientific Police of the National Police, in collaboration with the municipal technicians of Palma, are collaborating to clarify the causes of the collapse that occurred in a premises in Playa de Palma, where four people died and 16 were injured to varying degrees.

It should be noted that, of the total number of injured, six are still admitted to private centers and in Son Espases, and the rest have already been discharged.

The incident occurred this past Thursday, around 8:00 p.m. Hours later, in statements to the media, the Palma Fire Chief, Eder García, pointed to overweight on the first floor terrace as the main hypothesis of the landslide.

In detail, as he explained, the excess weight on the terrace of the first floor of the premises could have caused the collapse, hitting a sandstone vault, which also gave way, and falling to the basement of the infrastructure.

This Friday, the expert added the age of the building’s structure as a possibility.

However, the event remains under investigation and it is still unknown exactly what caused the infrastructure to fall.
