The Official State Gazette (BOE) published this Wednesday the new appointments of senior positions in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, both because they are new additions and because there is a change in the name of the position to be held.

Specifically, Ana Rodríguez has been appointed general director of Agricultural Productions and Markets. She graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid, she completed the Senior Management Program for agri-food companies taught by the San Telmo International Institute.

Rodríguez has developed her professional career as an official of the General Administration, where she has held various positions in the ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and Health and Consumer Affairs. Since 2021 she held the position of general secretary of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition.

For her part, Aurora de Blas Carbonero has been appointed general director of Fisheries Management and Aquaculture. She graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid, in 1986 she joined the National Veterinary Corps.

The new general director of Fisheries Management and Aquaculture has developed her professional career in Public Administration, in positions related to fishing markets, promotion of associations, food safety, innovation, integration and equality policies and management of oceanographic research vessels, as well as in matters of control, inspection, fishing surveillance and fight against illegal fishing.

In these areas she has held the positions of deputy director general of Fisheries Economy, deputy director general of Aquaculture and Fisheries Marketing and deputy director general of Fisheries Surveillance and Fight against Illegal Fishing.

For his part, Valentín Almansa de Lara will hold the position of general director of Agri-Food Production Health and Animal Welfare. Graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid, Almansa entered the General State Administration by competitive examination in 1987 in the National Veterinary Corps.

In September 1996 he became deputy general director of Beef and Sheep; and in May 2004 he was assigned, as Minister of Agriculture, to the Permanent Representation of Spain in the European Union, in Brussels. In September 2010 he became deputy director general of Sanitary Agreements and Border Control, until June 2018, when he was appointed general director of Agricultural Production Health, a position he currently held.

Finally, José Miguel Herrero Velasco will serve as general director of Food. Herrero is an Agricultural Engineer specialized in Agrarian Economics from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and an official of the Corps of State Agricultural Engineers.

Since 2018, he held the position of general director of the Food Industry. Previously, he has been deputy general director in different subdirectorates related to food. In 2013 he headed the Agency for Olive Oil and from 2014 to 2018 he was the first director of the Food Information and Control Agency (AICA).
