Visitors by air from Italy and France this year do exceed pre-pandemic figures

Spain was visited by more than 20 million British passengers between January and November of this year, which represents 5% less and a decrease of 1.05 million tourists from the United Kingdom compared to the same period in 2019, according to the data disseminated by Turespaña and consulted by Europa Press.
In the first eleven months of 2019, 21.1 million English people arrived in Spain, which represented 24% of the total of 88.4 million international passengers, while this year the figure is 22.7% of the total .
However, the number of British visitors until November is 15.5% higher compared to the same period in 2022, when 18.8 million tourists from the United Kingdom visited us.
With respect to other notable nationalities, the arrival of Italian and French tourists by air this year does exceed pre-pandemic figures, with 10% and 5.4% more visitors, respectively, although the Germans who landed in Spain were 9 % less than between January and November 2019.
In addition, tourists from the Netherlands (5.6%), Switzerland (1%), Portugal (24%) and Ireland (16.7%) are above the 2019 level in the first eleven months of the year. In the case of the United States, the number of passengers is 8.2% lower than pre-pandemic.
Spain received more than 88.4 million international passengers until November, which is 18.2% more than in the same period of the previous year, and slightly 0.1% below the 2019 figures.
For the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, the increase in the arrival of travelers outside of what was considered the high season “is great news for the deseasonalization of our tourism, which also sees how destinations diversify and increasingly “More autonomous communities experience increases in the flow of tourists outside of the summer months.”
