Geneva, March 13, 2023.
For the twelfth consecutive year, the NGO Dianova participates together with other organizations to make the voice of civil society heard at the United Nations
The 66th annual session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) meets in Vienna (Austria) from March 13 to 17, considered the most relevant international meeting on drug policy, with the participation of representatives of the Member States , international organizations, academia and civil society. During the 66th annual session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (better known by its acronym in English, CND), delegates will discuss the world drug situation and the application of political commitments on drug control, including follow-up on commitments made in the 2019 Ministerial Declaration on the world drug issue and the 2016 UNGASS outcome document on the world drug problem. civil society organizations Civil society organizations will also have the opportunity to make their views known or their work low during the session: a record number of more than 150 side events is planned, most of which will be accessible online, and several written statements have been sent in advance to the Commission secretariat, to which must be added the oral statements made on the ground. In its written statement on promoting gender-sensitive policies and services, Dianova International notes that no service or program is gender-neutral and that, in fact, most are designed from an androcentric perspective, that is, focused on the needs of men – which is why, in mixed programmes, where the gender ratio is very often heavily skewed against women, it is difficult for them to improve your health and well-being. Read Dianova’s statement on the CND website (select: English)Among other things, Dianova advocates for the training of professionals in the sector, the development of early childhood services within services, as well as the integration of gender mainstreaming in all services, regardless of whether they are mixed or exclusively for women, non-binary people or men.
