Meritxell Serret, who fled to Belgium and returned in 2021, announces that she will continue to form part of the Catalan Government

BARCELONA, 10 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has summoned the Minister of Foreign Action and the European Union of the Generalitat, Meritxell Serret, to testify on March 29 at 10 a.m. for alleged disobedience, it has reported in a car consulted by Europa Press this Friday.

The court has admitted the evidence requested by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the State Attorney’s Office, the popular prosecution exercised by Vox and Serret’s defense, and has requested that the trial be held.

In the statement, consulted by Europa Press, the TSJC has explained that the oral trial will be held in the Court’s Courtroom.

Meritxell Serret, who fled to Belgium and returned to Spain in 2021, has reacted to this summons by assuring that she will continue to be part of the Catalan Government and “committed” to the independence movement.

“The repression is not going to stop me, I will continue to be committed to the project of the republic, the independence project, which is the best for the citizenry,” he said in statements to the media this Friday in Parliament.

She has assured that she is “convinced and with a very clear conscience” that the independence movement is a legitimate and useful project for citizens.

“I will continue with my responsibilities in the Government, with the vocation of being useful and helping the citizens of Catalonia as much as possible”, stressed the minister.

Serret was Minister of Agriculture in the Government of Carles Puigdemont, and returned from Belgium in March 2021 and on his return to Spain he appeared voluntarily before the Supreme Court (TS).
