MADRID, 16 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The national men’s handball coach, Jordi Ribera, expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance in the 22-35 victory this Monday against Iran in the World Cup in Sweden and Poland and stressed that they came out “very psyched from the beginning”.
“I am happy, the team has come out very psyched from the beginning. Now we see the result, but we must remember that Iran beat Chile and that they made it very difficult for Montenegro. In addition, we were very cautious, especially after what had happened past with Chile that had cost us,” Ribera said in statements provided by the RFEBM.
The coach stressed that his team came out “with a very focused focus.” “The 5-1 defense has given us the opportunity to steal, create problems for them and go on the counterattack, and I think the 6-0 has been good too. Gonzalo (Pérez de Vargas) has been very good in goal,” he explained.
“In attack we have tried different situations that we have solved quite well and the game has given us to rotate everyone. Now, we have to rest and prepare well for the next game because we are already going to climb a mountain”, he sentenced.
For his part, the captain of the national team, Gedeon Guardiola, recalled that they needed victory to go “more comfortable” to a Main Round that “will be more difficult”, and celebrated that they showed “concentration, attitude and desire”.
“The kids and the teams are establishing themselves more and they have also been games against teams that we are not used to playing and I think that against the Europeans they are going to be better games, although we have to adapt to everyone and know how to be. The team is less more and it’s a good trend”, stressed the man from Alicante.
