MADRID, 5 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The American Andretti Global and the American manufacturer General Motors want to enter Formula 1 together, after the association known this Thursday, and compete in the World Cup under the Cadillac brand.

Through a joint statement, Michael Andretti stated that the goal is to “compete as soon as possible”, although the process seems to be long. “We are in a good position to make it a new team in F1 and get a good car,” he added.

“We have a long and rich history of motorsports and engineering innovation, and we are delighted at the prospect of partnering with Andretti Global to form an American F1 team that will help further stimulate global interest in the sport.” said Cadillac boss Mark Reuss.

“Cadillac and F1 have growing global appeal. Our brand has a motorsports pedigree that is over a century in the making, and we would be proud of the opportunity to bring our distinctive American innovation and design to F1.” he added.

The American Colton Herta, Andretti driver in the IndyCar, is the main candidate for that steering wheel. The president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), Mohammed bin Sulayem, celebrated and “welcomed” the news of the agreement between GM and Andretti, with a message on his Twitter account.
