MADRID, 5 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Betis took the first step in their defense of the Copa del Rey champion title by winning this Thursday with a lot of work despite the bulky 1-4 loss to the only survivor of the Second RFEF, CD Ibiza Islas Pitiusas.

In annex 3 of Can Misses, the champion suffered to take the ticket and put an end to the dream of the modest Balearic team, another one that managed to keep the emotion until the end and that stood up to Manuel Pellegrini’s men with their weapons, who avoided a bigger scare thanks to two flashes in the second half.

The Chilean coach opted for rotations and only Sergio Canales remained in the eleven in the goalless draw in LaLiga Santander against Athletic Club, but his plan ‘B’ seemed to work because the domain and the chances were visitors.

Rodri and the Cantabrian midfielder were the first to issue warnings, especially the second, who ran into the crossbar with his second shot on goal. Ibiza Islas Pitiusas defended itself with collective work and tried to deploy in transitions, although without much success.

However, when the game began to calm down, the locals found themselves ahead on the scoreboard. Víctor Ruiz made a mistake in his transfer back and after a failed first shot from Mas, Pepe Bernal did not forgive to beat Claudio Bravo. There was a lot of time left and Betis seemed to be in no hurry to come back and only scared something again on the stroke of halftime with a shot from outside the area by Rodri.

After the break, the game opened up a bit more. The Ibizan team was able to make more transitions in search of 0-2, but soon saw how their chances of surprising began to fade. Thus, in just four minutes, William José, with a header, and Edgar, after deflecting a shot from Rodri with his heel, turned the score around.

Despite the disadvantage, Ibiza Islas Pitiusas did not collapse and continued trying. Juan Antonio Sánchez and a couple of arrivals showed that he wanted to extend the excitement as long as possible until Willian Carvalho put a good pass to William José and the Brazilian put the sentence.

The end was of the locals arriving more and with Julen López having a very clear one and Marín seeing how a goal was annulled when he started in the correct position, but it was Nabil Fekir who put the sentence in added time.
