The Russian Parliament has approved this Thursday the law that guarantees the status of war veteran to volunteers who participate in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The draft law establishes that the status will be granted to volunteers who adhere to the formations created by the Russian authorities and contribute to the fulfillment of the functions of the Armed Forces during the special military operation in the Ukrainian territories,” the text collects. , as reported by the Interfax news agency.

Thus, the law also proposes to establish the “status of disabled for combat for those people who have suffered some disability as a result of injuries or bruises suffered during the performance of their duties in the framework of the operation.”

The measure has gone ahead with the vote in favor of deputies and senators, led by the president of the State Duma, Viacheslav Volodin, and the president of the Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko.

Volodin has thus stated that it is a “fair decision for volunteers and members of their families who, like military personnel, will enjoy benefits and social support measures in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.”
