MADRID, 10 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Former United States President Barack Obama has highlighted that the population that has turned out to vote in the mid-term elections has done so for a “fairer, more egalitarian and freer” country, before stressing that the results “advance towards these goals.

“In these elections, millions of people have cast their vote for a fairer, more egalitarian and freer United States. We are not there yet, but this makes us move forward,” he said through his account on the social network Twitter. “Our democracy is resilient if we remain active and participatory in the periods between elections,” she argued.

In the elections, the Republican Party caresses the majority in the House of Representatives, while control of the Senate could remain in the air until December 6, when the second round is held in Georgia. Despite the Republican advances, the results are far from the expected “Republican wave” that the polls predicted.
