MADRID, 9 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Former US President Donald Trump has described this Wednesday as “quite disappointing” the result of the mid-term elections held this Tuesday, although he has stressed that he considers them a personal success.

“In a way yesterday’s election was pretty disappointing, but from my personal point of view it was a great victory. 219 WINs and 16 losses overall. Who has ever done better?” Trump said in a message posted on Twitter. the social network Truth Social.

The Republican Party is close to regaining its majority in the House of Representatives, but the result in the Senate is yet to be decided, data quite far from what the polls and analysts predicted as a Republican “wave”.

In fact, in the tightest competitions, the candidates supported by Trump have been defeated and have only clearly prevailed in constituencies in which the result was already clear well in advance.

The defeat in Pennsylvania is particularly serious for Trump. There the famous doctor Mehmet Oz has not won a seat for the Senate despite the support of the former president.

In Georgia, Herschel Walker will have to submit to a second round in the race for the Senate and in Arizona the recount continues and the Democratic candidate for governor is ahead of Trump’s bet, Kari Lake.

The one who has obtained a clear victory is Ron DeSantis, re-elected as governor of Florida. DeSantis is Trump’s clearest rival in the race for the Republican Party nomination in the 2024 presidential election.
