The body summons the Super League to the Convention that begins this Wednesday in Nyon for a “real dialogue” and “not to waste time”
MADRID, 8 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
UEFA responded this Tuesday to the latest statement issued by A22 Sports Management, a company set up to sponsor and assist in the creation of the European Super League, assuring that the organization “constantly demonstrates its openness to change”, which “must be for the benefit of all, not only from a few clubs”, after the meeting between both parties in Nyon (Switzerland).
“A22 Sports Management has published an account of their visit to UEFA headquarters in Nyon today and we are reviewing the recording to see if they are talking about the same meeting,” said European soccer’s governing body.
UEFA pointed out that what must be “carried out” from the meeting held this Tuesday “should be that all European football opposes their greedy plan”, as they already expressed in a previous statement informing of what was discussed in the meeting “European football has consistently shown its openness to change, but it must be for the benefit of all, not just a few clubs,” he reiterated.
“A22 wanted dialogue so we gave them 2 1/2 hours with all the football stakeholders and they all rejected their approach. As the Football Supporters Association – the body that represents football fans in England and Wales – said, the UK has had so many Prime Ministers (3) in the last two months as supporters of their plans,” he joked, referring to the clubs that champion the Super League (Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Juventus).
UEFA criticized that from A22 they ensure that they do not represent these three entities and refuse “to define what their supposed new approach is” for European club competitions. “They say they want dialogue, but when the opportunity presents itself, they have nothing to say,” the organization attacked.
“The ‘other executives’ they are referring to were not faceless bureaucrats but high-level stakeholders of European football, people who live and breathe football every day. Not acknowledging that is disrespectful,” UEFA said. the words of the company speaking of “a broad group of executives” to refer to those attending the meeting -among them, the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas; PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi; or the member of the Board of Directors of the ECA Miguel Ángel Gil Marín.
Thus, he summoned the company led by Bernd Reichart to the Convention on the Future of European Football that begins this Wednesday in Nyon to establish a “real dialogue”. Associations, clubs, leagues, managers, players, fans, agents and administrators will come together to discuss the real problems of football, not waste time pandering to bankers and marketing executives with ideas that put endanger the future of football,” settled the statement.
