MADRID, 6 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish men’s basketball team is concentrated this Monday in Bologna, where they will carry out the first training sessions in preparation for the qualifying matches for the 2023 World Cup against Italy and the Netherlands.
The national coach, Sergio Scariolo, gave the squad list last Wednesday, with the presence of five European champions and debutants Pep Busquets (Joventut) and Eric Vila (Bàsquet Girona). On Thursday, the Spanish team will travel to Pesaro, where they will face Italy on Friday.
“The concentration of the National Team in Bologna is the result of the agreement reached weeks ago by the FEB and the top managers of the Virtus de Bologna, in whose facilities the team’s training will take place. In this way, Sergio Scariolo will be able to reconcile his two positions and also lead both teams in their two commitments this week”, recalls the Federation.
Spain’s second match in this November ‘window’ will be played next Monday the 14th at the Palacio de los Deportes Carolina Marín in Huelva against the Netherlands. After the first six days of this second phase -in which the results of the first have been carried over-, Spain and Italy lead group L (5-1), with a ticket to the World Cup for the first three.
