MADRID, 1 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Circuit Ricardo Tormo will renew the asphalt of its Grand Prix track next summer, so it will be the third time that the Cheste track has opened new asphalt since its inauguration in 1999, and after the complete resurfacing that was carried out in 2012, according to a statement.
The Valencian track will debut a total of 58,536 square meters of new asphalt, which make up its 4,005-meter-long track. A resurfacing that will be reviewed by all the authorities and federations that make use of the Circuit, as the Circuit itself recalled in the note, including the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) and the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
“With this resurfacing, the grip on the runway will be increased, so safety will be increased and the maintenance tasks that the runway receives on a daily basis will be facilitated,” the statement explained.
“The complete resurfacing of the track is another example of our firm commitment to safety and the constant improvement of our facilities. This will be one of the great works of 2023, but not the only one, since the maintenance of the green areas will continue, common areas, stands, loopholes… If we want to host the best competitions, we must not stop working so that every day we have the best facilities available to our visitors”, said the general manager of Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Gonzalo Gobert.
After the complete resurfacing of 2012, the Circuit Ricardo Tormo also reformed the 460 meters of the final part of the finish straight in 2016, in the braking zone.
