MADRID, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) explained how the ‘Scuderia’ suffered this Sunday at the Mexican Grand Prix, satisfied at least with his performance and fifth place, although he was far from being able to fight for victory.

“The worst weekend we have gone by far. We knew the commitments we had to make with the car for this type of height and circuit. A pity because for a weekend that I am doing well, that I am attacking and I dominate the car, because unfortunately there wasn’t much pace”, he said.

Sainz took it as a positive to be able to complete the race after his withdrawals in Japan and the United States. “At least I was able to finish the race, learn, I hadn’t run for two races, at least I was able to do a good race,” he said in statements to Dazn, collected by Europa Press.

The Madrilenian confessed that, “surely”, they have been the team that suffered the most in their engine. “Surely more than the others, I don’t know about the others, but we have lost a lot here. It is more of us who have lost. In a normal circuit we are still there, not at the level of Red Bull, but Mercedes does not worry us so much in Brazil and Abu Dhabi,” he explained.

On the other hand, Sainz valued a start that he did well to keep his teammate Charles Leclerc behind. “I have gone out on the attack, I have tried to go inside. Leclerc has thrown himself on the outside and I had to put up with the type. I have not gone wrong, but braking inside is always complicated on this circuit”, he finished.
