MADRID, 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A man has been rushed to hospital after he was shot while allegedly trying to disarm a security guard at the Russian Embassy in the Zimbabwean capital Harare.
The injured man, whose identity remains hidden, is 24 years old and is admitted to Parirenyatwa Hospital, the largest medical center in Zimbabwe, after the emergency services found the victim on the ground after being shot.
The Embassy has confirmed the attack, pointing out that the event occurred outside the institution, correcting previous reports that indicated that it had occurred in diplomatic facilities, reports the Zimbabwean newspaper ‘Herald’.
The country’s security forces have indicated that investigations to determine the motive for the incident were still ongoing, according to a statement published on Thursday.
“The Republic of Zimbabwe Police confirm that investigations are underway in relation to the shooting that occurred at the Russian Embassy last night, October 26, 2022 at 7:20 p.m. (local time),” the police force reported.
