Real Madrid takes out the roller against Sevilla

Ancelotti’s men reaffirm their leadership and put pressure on Barça

MADRID, 22 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid beat Sevilla FC (3-1) this Saturday on matchday 11 of LaLiga Santander held at the Santiago Bernabéu, with an early goal and a strong final reaction to not give emotion to a leadership that consolidates with authority.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team suffered a couple of disconnections against a rival who, despite showing few signs of life, was able to strike fear into the defending champion’s body. Luka Modric’s goal after five minutes gave excessive calm to a Madrid that fell asleep in the second half with Lamela’s 1-1.

Undefeated so far this season, the white team was out of the game at times, with Sevilla giving clarity to their possession and arriving in danger. The response was resounding in Ancelotti’s team, killing on the counter with Lucas Vázquez and a great goal by Fede Valverde to add 31 points to the top of the table.

The rain and the traffic on Saturday night had the Bernabéu seats still occupied when Modric put the 1-0. A serious mistake by Montiel, in Vinicius’s steal, allowed the Brazilian to run and the perfect pass between rivals to find the Croatian. After doing the honors in handing over the Ballon d’Or to Benzema, the ’10’ sealed the 1-0 that could well have been for the Frenchman.

The Frenchman was absent at the last minute due to muscle fatigue in his left leg, but between ‘Vini’, Rodrygo, Valverde and Modric himself they kept the visiting defense busy for several minutes. Lamela was the one who worried the local defense, but Sevilla had not yet landed. Mendy was close to 2-0 from a direct free kick.

Those of Jorge Sampaoli, who came from his first victory with the Argentine against Mallorca, took refuge in possession, but very far from the goal of a Thibaut Courtois who returned after injury also with the award for the best in his position under his arm . Madrid showed its strength behind and Sevilla hardly disturbed.

Rakitic did not take advantage of a free kick up front and Modric forgave the 2-0 also on a counterattack. The Andalusian team did not find each other until half-time, with a couple of occasions forcing the rival goal. The return was again with high pressure in Madrid, but it did not last long. In addition, the tables were changed between Vinicius and Montiel, and this time it was the visitor who stole and assisted for 1-1.

Lamela beat Courtois and opened the game when Madrid seemed to have it on the line. Isco finished another good play by Sampaoli’s men at the second post and Lamela confirmed the white bird, with losses in the dangerous zone. The Argentine coach put in Papu Gómez, Delaney and Rafa Mir in search of victory, but Madrid killed the counter as soon as they had the chance again.

With Sevilla upended, Asensio launched the attack that found ‘Vini’ alone on the inside, unopposed to gift the goal to Lucas Vázquez in the 79th minute. Immediately afterwards, Valverde scored his sixth league goal with a tremendous right hand, unstoppable for Bono. Two minutes to finish with a Sevilla that shows signs of life without being ready for big battles, and avoid happiness to the pursuers.

Ancelotti’s men, who ended up comfortable although Valverde was scared by a hit with ‘Papu’, widen the cushion with a Barça second team that receives Athletic Club this Sunday six from the lead. Meanwhile, in his I want and I can’t, Sampaoli’s Sevilla is again at risk of falling into the relegation zone.
